| What's Wrong With Popular Weight Loss Programs
Now, lets look take at what's wrong with the possible weight loss solutions you can choose from right now and contrast those possible solutions to weight loss with the Real Easy Weight Loss { R.E.W.L.® } solution: |
1. Fasting Diets -
The core technique amounts to eliminating all calories or reducing calories to survival levels only.
Examples:
- Cabbage Soup Diet
- Juice Diet(s) (grapefruit, cranberry…etc., you name it, it’s been done).
- Hollywood Diet…etc.
Problems:
- You lose muscle with fat. Muscle is a major fat burner or calorie user.
- You slow your metabolism to the survival levels to match the survival calorie intake. In the process slowing thyroid hormone production (thyroid is responsible for metabolism) (This is explained in detail on page #12 of the e-manual).
- Because of problem #1 and #2 above, when you finally start eating "normal" again (and you will or, you'll get sick and die) you will have effectively lowered your homeostatic metabolic set point. In other words, if before the diet, you used to maintain your current weight at say 2500 calories per day...now you will be able to stay that weight while only taking in 1500 calories. Nice job -- This diet just made it easier to get fat and stay fat.

2. Low Carb Intake Diets - The core technique is to eat very low carbohydrate calories.
Examples:
- The Atkins Diet
- South Beach Diet (really only a modified Atkins Diet, just fancier)
- Most, if not all of the popular online e-books & e-manuals are of this nature.
Problems:
- First you lose muscle, then you begin to lose fat. Remember, Muscle is a major fat burner or calorie user.
- As a result of losing muscle, your body slows your metabolism down as in the fasting above, only with a high protein diet added (Atkins) the protein does minimally speed up your metabolism, but not to it’s former glory.
- It is not a very satisfying experience (you get weak and tired) and is the reason most, if not all, people fall off this diet at some point.
- Most people feel horrible in the first few weeks or even months of starting this diet because ketogenesis is not a happy place. In order for this type of diet to work, you have to:
- Deplete your glycogen (muscle and liver sugar) that is used for emergencies to feed your brain.
- Battle past the low brain glucose phase until your body switches enzyme functioning to the utilize fat for brain fuel.
- Deny yourself just about every good food thing you ever liked.
- Keep this up permanently. Oh they say you can eat carbs and you can. If you consider desert a cheese covered broccoli spear. I prefer a Ben & Jerry Rocky-Road ice cream myself. And since my results are better and long term, it is a complete waste to deny yours

- No Carbohydrate Restrictions Ever.
3. Calorie Counting Diets -
The core technique here is to reduce calories to appropriate level. Theoretically great, however, it's almost impossible to implement.
Examples:
- Weight Watchers (calorie counting plus group counseling)
- Jenny Craig (calorie counting plus counseling plus a VERY e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e MENU $$$
- Richard Simmons (Deal-a-Meal) Calorie Counting Plus Richard. My hat is off to good ol' Richard Simmons, he is very good at helping people (mostly women) to deal with core issues, but as a long time personal trainer, let me just say, most of the time, those issues take a life time to work out.
- L.A. Weight Loss (based on reduced caloric intake along with nutrition bars and supplements, behavior modification, and personal counseling).
Problems:
- How do you figure out your baseline calorie intake? Then what’s the appropriate calorie level? Every body is different and the only real way to measure actual Basal Metabolic Rate is to spend the night at the hospital or High Performance Athletes clinic and sleep in an oxygen tent.
- If you don’t do this, you are really shooting in the dark. And since this type of program is of the most expensive kind, you can only imagine how happy they are to help you through the PROLONGED process with either meetings, menus, or other gadgets.

- No Calorie Counting Ever.
4. Hypnosis Diets -
The core techniques is to alter subconscious programming.
Examples:
- Can’t really think of a big commercial hypnosis plan and that’s probably because of the risk involved.
Problems:
- Ineffective over long term. Ineffective because your life habits took years and years to develop and you cannot wipe away all traces by erasing or re-routing one thing.
The best analogy is like a computer. You may not know it, but anything you have ever viewed on your computer is still there somewhere. Oh if you are a sneaky computer programmer, you can figure out how to wipe the entire hard drive...but for the average person, once it has come to your computer, there it will always remain in some form.
Well, our minds are WAY more complicated and powerful than a computer and there is NO WAY a sneaky programmer (hypnotist) can erase all traces of any behavior. Even if they could, it can be very dangerous. You can't go buy a new mind if you mess the human mind up....
- Dangerous because many times, if you have been truly hypnotized by a professional, they can eliminate coping mechanisms that keep you from having a nervous breakdown!!

- No Hypnosis of Any Kind Ever. However we do change habits in a way that is almost unnoticeable.
5. Medical Intervention "Diets ?" -
These aren't diets, but they are listed here because they are tragically becoming more and more popular.
Examples:
- Gastric Bypass
- Stimulants (call them whatever you want, these are basically "speed" or "uppers")
- Hormone Augmentation (this is a VERY legitimate cure to a large percentage of weight loss clients and I deal with it specifically in the e-manual).
Problems:
- Gastric Bypass is SURGERY and there are inherent risks with being put under anesthesia and there is a high failure rate. The new shrunken stomach can be stretched again.
- Stimulants… Addiction and all the bad problems that come from being addicted to anything. Really, don’t even go there.
- There is only one serious problem with Thyroid Hormone Replacement and I address that issue in my book. It has to do with the type of Thyroid Hormone they give you. All in all, I’m very much in support of this as a first line of attack..

- No Medical Intervention unless Thyroid Symptoms are present and that is discussed in the e-manual (page 13) If you do turn out to have undiagnosed or a poorly treated hypo-thyroid condition, you will be very happy to get it finally resolved.
6. Nutritional Supplements -
I’m all for the ones that actually do something helpful to the weight loss situation. I have an entire supplement index in my e-manual that discusses each of the popular weight loss supplements.
- However, there is a LOT of under-potent supplements (not what they claim to be chemically or not as much in the pill as it says on the bottle). As a former quality control director for one of the largest vitamin manufacturers in the united states, I can tell you, there is a lot of hocus-pocus going on with labeling of nutritional supplements. In the supplement section of the e-manual, I’ll give you some excellent sources of good, pure, clean supplements.
Supplements alone will never fix the weight loss problem and they aren’t supposed to. The ones that do, are harmful or become prescription and the ones that do anything always, always have harmful side effects.
- For example, the new super wonder supplement is the Hoodia cactus supplement. Sure it stops your hunger dead, with no side effects… [I smell a lawsuit a mile away.] I can think of one powerful side effect right now that can effect the rest of your life…. Thyroid damage. Whenever you restrict calories too much, you have the potential to damage your thyroid. Now what do you think people will do with a supplement that takes away hunger…??? They’ll take it every day until they are as skinny as a pole, but what happened to their metabolism, their thyroid???

- Supplements are fully supported, but with the R.E.W.L. e-manual you won’t be "shooting in the dark" or worse, "shooting yourself in the foot"!
7. Other Diets -
Examples:
- Blood Type Diet (complete hype, Some solid facts about metabolism, but does not seriously support any real weight loss)
- Workout-Type Diets (basically adding muscle and burning a lot of calories through aerobic exercise)...
- Food Group Diets (eating certain types of food together)
Problems:
- Blood type diet is just silly.

- Food Group Diets. …etc., all and any of these miscellaneous diets fail in the long term & work in the short term for one reason only. The reason they succeed temporarily is that they make you aware of your food choices and they focus your attention on a specific goal. This in and of itself is a fine thing, but it is misleading and bums people out in the long run because they don’t work. It’s much like the placebo effect.

The Real Easy Weight Loss Program works because it takes advantage of the secret to all biological change.
It is really about tricking your body into doing what you want it to do. This is done throught what is called the "Negative Feedback Loop" or "Feedback Loop" for short.And when you know how to manipulate your body's negative feedback loops, you have TOTAL POWER over almost all of your biological processes. In that example, the water was both a final product and an on/off switch for the feedback loop. In this case, it turned the whole process on and then off.
That whole scenario is a crude example of a negative feedback loop, and our body has millions or even trillions of those working constantly to monitor and keep our system balanced.
Some of those feedback loops are not able to be manipulated (at least not by diet) and it's a good thing because we would probably kill ourselves.
However, some of those loops can be manipulated and the one we care about is our metabolic system. The system that is responsible for how we burn fat (or Don't!).
The R.E.W.L. program is based on learning how to manipulate this particular negative feedback loop.
